Metaphor Moments

My family
My family lives in a toy chest
My dad is the bouncy ball that bounces off the walls and sometimes rolls away.
My mum is the wind up car that keeps running out and needs rewinding.
My brother is the toy gun that tries to shoot but has no darts.
I am the tool box with the darts for the gun and the key for the car.

Alexander

My family
Mum is the cushion fluffy and light, always ready for a hug.
Dad is the TV working nonstop all day round.
Tiggs the cat is the blanket, soft and warm, always ready to snuggle in-between your legs.
Nathan is the light bulb always filling the room with new ideas.
Tom the cat is the ornament, shy and breakable, but always an attention seeker.
And I am the couch holding everyone up.

Emma

My family scavenges in the garage
Ruby is the lawn mower, disturbing the peace with her energetic behaviour, but when she runs out of petrol things don’t go as planned.
Dad is the light, contributing positive input, and switches off when not required.
Mum is the car, cautiously driving the family to achieve great things.
My sister is the spare tyre, inputting quirky and weird ideas, only needed as plan B.
And I am the set of tools ready and alert when needed.

Georgia

My Family
My family lives in the lounge.
Mum is the couch lazing around.
Dad is the T.V. always having a clear picture.
My cat is the books high out of reach.
And I am the heater keeping everyone warm.

James

My family lives in a garden
My dad is the tall towering oak tree that it is a sheet that covers us from rainy days.
My mum is the weed that rapidly raps any one that trespasses.
My uncles are the tall trees in the background that shade us from the strong daylight sun.
My aunties are the roots that hold us tight to the ground.
My cousins are the leaves that slowly begin to fall from their parents.
My granddad is the pohutukawa tree that takes care of us.
My grandma is the red brushes that keep Granddad company
And I am the fence that holds us all together.

Tree Family

My family lives in a tree
Dad is the gnarled trunk of the tree, strong, rough and our shelter
Mum is the supporting branches, holding us all together
Oliver and Phoenix are the loving roots, keeping us happy
Callum is the unlucky leaves, always getting tramped on
And I am the soil, helping everyone stand tall

Lauren

My family lives in a garden!

Dad is the big tree nourishing us in need
Ready to help whenever needed
Mum is the rose holding the beauty of the family
Also helping us in need
My brother is a growing plant the future generation of the family
But it is I the worm holding everyone together.

Mannat

Dad is the Rimu tree strong, sturdy and our shelter.
Mum is the daffodil the inspiration for us all.
Megan is the weed you just can’t pull out of the soil.
Zane is the bush shaped like a rugby ball.
And I am the soil keeping us together with my hugs.
