Miraculous Marking Monday

Today we had our PAT Mathematics test and last week we had both Vocabulary and Listening.

Our wet day monitors had their first wet day today. We found the children in our classes were really well behaved.

The milk monitors have had their first week of work and they report that it is fun and a little bit confusing.

Our camp notices that indicate whether we are going or not were due last Wednesday...if not returned please remember tomorrow.

Lots of people earned merits for home learning, well done. Please look closely at any comments made and complete work well this week.

The Lantern Festival in Albert Park was visited by some of our children on the weekend - it was to mark the Chinese Year of the Rabbit.

The Weetbix Triathlon held yesterday had many participants from not just our class but also the school. We had a tent and the school banner to meet at. Congratulations to all the finishers.

What a great assembly!

Room 28 I am very proud of you. Your organsiation and the way you moved on and off the stage in such a respectful way impressed me. All of you played your part and took repsonsibility for the assembly.
Thank you Mrs McConnell for leading the children to prepare such a fun assembly.

Week 3 - Monday Moanings

Today we had lots of people missing for various reasons.
  • Constable Jamieson required road patrollers
  • Miss Coote took milk monitors for training
  • The dental van was in school and many of 28 visited
  • a group of 3 of our children started with Mrs Jammes
  • the 3 computers were in action
  • the home Learning books were being set up by 2 children

but the good news is some of us still managed to keep working!!!

Summary of week 2 and looking ahead to week 3

We took home the Camp Information newsletters last week. We were so excited and some have even returned notices today, the adventure is starting. Well done.

Summer sport started on Friday and we played touch rugby and tennis.

Today we found our writing levels - do share these results.

Our publishing frames are complete and today we have written a simple poem to display in them.

We had our first Te Reo lesson on Wednesday with Whaea Sowerby. Lots of practising is now required.

Many children enrolled to be part of the Culture Club and the first practice is Thursday Break 2.

The draft of our vision boards is progressing and at home we need to create or find a 3D object to add to the design.

Vivid vocabulary started last week and the pattern for completing this is well established.

Tomorrow night is a Meet the Teacher Night. We look forward to meeting those of you we don't already know.

Marvellous Monday -Week Two

We opened the Blog today to discover we have two followers. Mereille and Lauren - well done!

Congratulations James and Fusi for bringing in answers to our Mathematics problem of the week.

Our first unassisted recount was completed on Friday so at the beginning of next week the children will set a writing goal based on the results of this. We also completed a Language Skills test today.

We have begun an investigation about The Treaty of Waitangi and what the true story is about. Now we know more we plan to draw a picture that is our visual of the Treaty and what it was like in 1840.

We have all been allocated duties and it is now time to put them into action.

Check out this website for some new learning.

Day One

Did your children tell you how great it is to have air-conditioning in the room? What a difference it will make to the way we concentrate and learn.

A couple of reminders
  • sunhats are necessary every day
  • a water bottle to keep in the classroom is important - we are a long way from the taps
  • naming of all clothing will ensure it can be returned to its owner if inadvertently left somewhere
